"YAHNK IN MY EYES"

A mix about Eric, my favorite songs I stole from Eric, and basically some of the big Sparkling Yunker's favorites. Since he refuses to stop twiddling his balls and make a mix of his own, I will make one for him. Also starting off the mix are two songs recently completed by the Yunker himself with AAA Holeson. The duo known as the Yahnker-Olson Overload.

Daggering

I just learned about this Jamaican dance - daggering. From what I gather you just hump the other person super hard with your clothes on. Cheers.

My favorite is when the girl dances on the DJ who you can tell wants none of it.

It's kinda like sexual moshing?

It looks painful!

Quincy Jones is the sensual collaborator's sensual collaborator!

The jam that is "The Secret Garden (Sweet Seduction Suite)" is like a "That's What Friend's Are For," or even a "We Are The World" type effort for the quiet-storm-sensual-smoove-as-cocoa-butta-on-yo-inner-thigh set...an absolute FANTASY collab...Goddamn, I love this jam!!! feat. Al B. Sure!, Barry White, El DeBarge, James Ingram & Quincy Jones biblically breakin' u off...
Do yerself a favor...pour some cherry wine, cover your couch in plastic, grab a roll of extra-strength Brawny, then BEHOLD!

Essential Randy Newman 1968-1977

I will admit that I originally hated Randy Newman. All I thought about was the Toy Story soundtrack. Sorry Randy, you just did not have a friend in me.
Then I decided to give his early stuff a good listen... and found out - HEY! There is way more to Randy Newman than that god awful soundtrack.

My good friend Samantha McCarthy made me this Essential Randy Newman mix in attempts to convince me of his talent. Three years later I got this in the mail. This is one well thought out Randy Newman mix! It includes her favorite songs from his first five albums placed in sequential order. Enjoy!

Put it in HERE

1. Living Without You (this is my favorite Randy Newman song)
2. I Think He's hiding
3. The Beehive State
4. Have You Seen My Baby?
5. Suzanne
6. Lover's Prayer
7. Burn On
8. Political Science
9. Dayton, Ohio-1903
10. Last Night I Had A Dream
11. Sail Away
12. Marie
13. Kingfish
14. A Wedding in Cherokee County
15. Texas Girl at the Funeral of Her Father
16. In Germany Before the War
17. Jolly Coppers on Parade

I wanna learn that dance!

So many good things/ slightly wrong. Someone told this kid he will get his point across more clearly if he yells extremely hard. I love the shots by the water at sunset and the yelling kid dances on a hill. However, that five year old girl's dance is just a little too sexy.

Creeper Robin

I didn't realize Robin was openly such a creeper as he got older till I saw this video. One time I had a conversation with Derek Wood... he basically told me Robin Gibb probably wouldn't be into me, that he probably got a lot of babes. Now I think I must agree with him. I am too old for him.

Robin so sleeveless and shiny in this one.

Moral of the story... I guess you have a be a mega babe groupie even for the nerds. I call BS on that.

Being a teacher is really cutting into my layin' around time... which means I haven't been able to properly nerd out. SO when that happens... I revert back to my stand bys. The Beach Boys! Please Let Me Wonder is my dad's favorite song by the Beach Boys.... he likes to remind me its his favorite despite Brian Wilson writing it on his first acid trip. Christian dads vote no acid trips.

Allow me to refer back to my Beach Boys Mix I made a long ass time ago.HERE

When I am done with my class I am going to make a needlepoint of the album Love You.

What have you guys been into as of late??

Popol Vuh - The Werner Herzog Soundtracks (2011)

They did it!

Music from Aguirre, Heart of Glass, Nosferatu, Fitzcarraldo, and Cobra Verde... still no Sculptor Steiner.

but still

"German label SPV have compiled their body of five full length cinematic commissions Heart of Glass (1976), and the Klaus Kinski-starring Aguirre (1972), Nosferatu (1979), Fitzcarraldo (1982) and Cobra Verde (1987) in one beautiful box set.

Scoring Herzog’s ‘Aguirre’, Popol Vuh, lead by Florian Fricke, established a longstanding relationship with the director, providing him with a milestone of electronic music which is still named as a masterpiece to this day. Fricke’s innately moving compositions presaged the electronic ambient and new age genres, incorporating avant-garde classical, religious music, prog and krautrock themes into a substantial, harmonically rich sound.

As fellow krautrock pioneer Klaus Schulze says “Here, he went on to create a new world, which Werner Herzog loves so much, transforming the thought pattern of electronic music into the language of acoustic ethno music” perfectly reflecting the films inherent themes of humanity, religion and nature. Over the next fifteen years Fricke’s musical evolution was charted by his work for Herzog, weaving increasingly elaborate instrumentation into the electronic fabric of his compositions. Between his captivating choral work for Nosferatu, the operatic classicism of Fitzcarraldo, or the breathtaking lushness of Cobra Verde, Fricke and Popol Vuh inspired a generation and re-defined the art of the soundtrack. This box set is a tremendous testament to his accomplishments – grab one while you can."

gastr del sol videos

i found live gastr del sol videos on the youtube and was stoked!
here's one:

I'll be there

I think you might like this one Aaron.

Here comes the sun

I will admit I have been a bit down in dumps as of late. What with being trapped in the desert while I do my student teaching and finish my last credentialing classes. For some reason doing my student teaching is making me question a lot of things and reflect on getting my dick knocked in the dirt by life. Education is actually very bleak it turns out.

Last night I woke up and listened to this song because someone posted it and I couldn't sleep. It was exactly what i needed after a grueling long week.
You know a song is good when it pulls you out of your self loathing depression in the first 30 seconds and makes you feel like things can't all be so bad.

Thank god for feel good jams and that one student who randomly gives you big hugs cause he likes you and feels safe with you.

Sizzlin'

After a few promises to contribute to your Affectionavocados blog, I have to admit that I am far too intimidated. You guys are like the passionate staff of some used record store no one knows about in the Valley where nothing is priced or sorted. It'd be some dimly lit joint where I'd start rooting awkwardly through the stacks, and upon recognizing nothing at all I would just begin calculating how long I'd need to keep up this charade before I can sneak out without looking lame. I mean all this as a compliment. I continue to enjoy the excavation of hidden gems and miscellany from vinyl's golden age here.

Although I'm at a loss finding things to add to these forays into history, I do keep up with almost all forms of new music so that I know exactly what I need to rip off to advance my own music career. I have been doing a separate blog for a month now to share the best new stuffs that I think more people need to try out. I wanted to start spreading the word about it so I tried to sneak a link up in the upper right yesterday but I don't think I'm allowed. Instead, I just followed any tumblrs listed up there and got two messages asking today if it was truly me behind http://thesizzler.tumblr.com. So here's a post to say yeah, that's me. I am the sizzler. Enjoy.

Chris :)

JACK NITZSCHE!

(L to R: Jack Nitzsche, Darlene Love, Phil Spector)

Mr. Nitzsche needs no introduction to most of you affectionandos, but I decided to post this because, well, it's about time some Jack Nitzsche essentials landed on the 'nandos blog.

Quick back story:
-Moved to LA in '55 as a jazz saxophonist.
-Wrote "Needles and Pins" with Sunny Bono for Jackie DeShannon. His instrumental "The Lonely Surfer" becomes a hit.
-Gets his major start in the late 50's as arranger and conductor for Phil Spector.
-Works closely with "The Wrecking Crew" session musicians.
-Organized the music for the T.A.M.I. show.
-Worked with The Beach Boys, The Monkees, The Rolling Stones, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Bob Lind, Gram Parker, Willie DeVille, Link Wray, Ry Cooder, Captain Beefheart, Buffy Sainte-Marie, REM...
-Probably most famous for his soundtracks. Especially One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.
others include: Performance, Blue Collar, The Exorcist, Cruising, Hard Core, Cutter's Way, An Officer And A Gentleman, The Razor's Edge, Starman and tons of others (literally if you weigh the film stock).

Below are One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest and Performance. Also a 2 disc comp. of Jack Nitzsche's career, pretty rad (I especially recommend Vol 2 "Hard Workin' Man"). If anyone knows where I can get a hold of the OSTs for Blue Collar, Cutter's Way, and Cruising, holla! (Aaron?)
